HSS_connex
A computer program for the design of Hollow Structural Section (HSS) connections under predominately static loading. The program covers the Load and Resistance Factor Design of both welded and bolted HSS truss-type connections.

LRFD COLUMN LOAD TABLES

(Published 1999) Complete Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) column load tables are presented for square, rectangular and round HSS produced by the ERW and SAW methods. Also included are tables of design stresses for compression members of six minimum specified yield stress steels from Fy = 42 ksi to Fy = 70 ksi. Design strength loads have been calculated in accordance with the new AISC "Specification for the Design of Steel Hollow Structural Sections," 1997, which supplements its 1993 "Load and Resistance Factor Design Specification for Structural Steel Buildings."

Tables of allowable axial compressive loads for rectangular, square and round HSS manufactured by electric resistance or submerged arc welding processes, as well as tables of allowable stress for compression members of 42 ksi to 70 ksi specified minimum yield stress steels.

6-Inch Square and Under
The following case studies feature 6-inch square and under applications. HSS comes in a wide variety of sizes and gauges. Six-inch square and under HSS is used in hundreds of applications, such as: rack and storage systems; guardrails; pedestrian and small vehicular bridges; recreational, RV, small trailers and motor home chassis; lightweight trusses used in commercial, industrial, institutional and residential buildings; highway trailers/trucks; hitches for boat and car trailers; ramp and sign posts; stairs and handrails; components for autos, trucks and recreational vehicles; exercise equipment; transmission towers; steel furniture; off-highway recreational vehicles; scaffolding; and industrial machinery, to name just a few.
